Perhaps. [ The silence over the journals was even more alarming. But, ah, maybe making them something nice for when they do come back will be nice. Halloween is coming up after all. Maybe...making a few Halloween themed cakes could work.

They're quite fun to make actually! Brownies that look like spiders. Cupcakes with orange and green frosting for pumpkins. [ He has a broad smile on his face as he talks about it. ]

If you'd like...I could at least teach you how to make some Halloween themed cupcakes. I-I'm not sure if anyone else as offered yet.

Several people have, yes. However, cooking is a learning experience, and I have a lot to learn! I'd love to make something like that!

[ aaand it takes a while before she can properly trash that caketastrophe, but in about half an hour she'll be knocking at the door, rather bright-eyed and bushy-tailed but ready to learn. maybe she'll just think of this as culinary research. ]

[ Helios is just gonna be sitting in the living room looking through a recipe book for easy, beginner styled things when there's a knock on the door. He'll get up and go answer it, opening the door to see a girl who is presumably Platina. He smiles and waves for her to come in, stepping to the side as he does so. ]

Platina, correct? Come in, come in!

Yes! Thank you for having me, Mr. Helios, even on such short notice.

[ she gives a ladylike bow before entering, glancing around curiously. gosh, houses are still so quaint, after years of living in mansions and villas... ]

[folklorist]

[ Helios gives a wave of his hand. ] Oh, no, it's hardly any trouble at all. So! What shall we start with first? You enjoy cooking sweets primarily, yes?

[leadinglady]

I'm not sure, actually. I've never cooked much, I've always had chefs for that.

[ a life of luxury! ]

[folklorist]

Ah, I see. [ Hm. ] Well, we can start with the basics for a few things then. C-Cooking isn't all that hard once you have the basics down, like chopping, slicing, and those sorts of things. Baking and the actual cooking can come later I think.

[ He'll take out a few carrots then from the refrigerator and set them down on the counter beside two cutting boards and two knives. ] First we'll start with chopping.

[leadinglady]

I suppose you're right. I should learn the foundations before trying something as ambitious as a cake.

[ picking up the knife with a cautious look, and then trying to cut the carrot into chunks. but even after two or three it's pretty obvious how uneven and blocky they look 8| ]

[folklorist]

Hm. [ Helios notes that and yeah...blocky they are. But he just gives her an encouraging smile. ] If the pieces are too big, you can cut them in half too. Like you have been doing, and you're doing rather well for your first time.

[leadinglady]

Am I really? I'm glad!

[ she perks up at the advice, and then tries dutifully to halve the chunks. well, smaller means that uniformity is less important, right! because that is what is happening. ]

[folklorist]

[ That is what is important! Helios is just glad that she's trying so hard to learn. She will make a fine student for culinary teachings, if she wished to pursue it after this. ] Next we'll, ah, try and skin some apples. It's fairly basic, especially with one of these.

[ He'll take out two peelers for the both of them, and just begin peeling that apple until all the skin is neatly trimmed off. ] See? Simple enough!

[leadinglady]

That does look convenient! I'll try it.

[ oh well this is pretty straightforward. she tries peeling it, occasionally slipping so that the peel is interrupted and she has small bits of apple everywhere, but then beams as she finishes her first one. SUCCESS. ]
