wherever you are, there's suddenly a girl on an armored penguin calling out for you to WATCH OUT!! as she sleds down the slope, swerving to avoid hitting you....... and then crashing into a tree. awkward. the only way that could be even more awkward is if you'd been unlucky and stepped out from behind a tree, out-of-sight, so that you didn't even get a warning before the girl and her penguin crash straight into you instead. whooops. ]

She's a friend? Is that a suit of armor then? [ She is kinda tactless, so it's okay. She rushes over to the penguin and summons a staff from a scroll. It appears in a brief puff of smoke before she lowers it underneath the Empoleon. She'll just pluck her out. She can't weigh that much, right? ]

Don't worry about it. If I was hit by it, I wouldn't be anything close to a worthy ninja. The best types of training are always the unexpected ones!

[ /THROWS BALL AT well, empoleon is half-steel and weighs almost 200 pounds so Platina totally does a double-take when penguinbuddy is nearly effortlessly lifted out from where she'd faceplanted into the snow. WHOA. ]

[ just staring as empoleon awkwardly flaps back down and gets back on her feet. ]

A pokémon? I think I've heard of that! They're those small creatures that can use some elemental attacks, right? [ She has the basics down... Kinda... they aren't small. ] One of my friends has one of those small electric yellow mouses. [ She sounds vaguely proud that she knows this knowledge. The way she states this makes her sound like an expert. You're so proud, aren't you, Platina? ]

To answer your other part, I am a ninja! I'm a kunoichi and a master of weapons! [ She twirls a scroll, that briefly turns into a chain, before disappearing in a puff of smoke. ] I'm Tenten! Some of them are naturally this size. Like empoleon. I certainly don't overfeed her, I take good care of everyone on my team!

[ keywords... kinda, if by gym you mean her heart oh idk. penguinbuddy eyes the polish and pecks at it a little because ohhh shiny. ]

You've seen them in Luceti? Those of other trainers?... And I suppose that also depends on the species. But what exactly is that?

[ Tenten does have a haunting effect if tactless, in-your-faceness isn't one's cup of tea. ]

Yeah. Other trainers! One of my friends got one as an egg, I think he won it. [ She continues on as she unscrews the polish. ] This is metal polish! I polish and sharpen my weapons everyday so they have a maximum effect against those that they face. Sometimes, it's so shiny that with correct angling, your opponent can't even see anything because of the glare! [ She starts to wipe the polishing sponge along the front of Empoleon.

Tenten: She doesn't ask. ]

Ah... so it's something like a metal coat, or an accessory? Fascinating! I'll allow you to apply it on empole...

[ ......... watching as Tenten just goes and does it anyway, WELL SURE WHY NOT. penguinbuddy stops flailing for a moment to patiently be sponged, cocking her head a little to try to admire herself in the mirror of her own armor. NOT BAD 8|b ]

No, not really. It just removes any dirt and blemishes from the metal coat, it then strengthens and shines the coat. It's like a bath, for metal. This type of polish also eliminates small scratches and grooves so I think you'd like that. [ She continues to apply it. She goes for the right fin first, so she can stare at herself as she completes the rest of Empoleon in a beautiful, metallic polish. ]

[ empoleon obligingly lifts her flipper a little for easier application, as well as to preen a little as she sees her reflection. so sue her, she likes looking pretty :V ]

I see! So it's more for use in battle than for aesthetics... though it also works for the latter, it seems.

[ Tenten smiles at Empoleon's distracted by the shiny and continues to coat the rest of her body in a ridiculously shiny polish. ]

It works for both! Keeps it shiny and sharp, the two best things for metals, you know?

It seems like it. But now I have to wonder why you need to carry something like this around at all.

Because, I use metal products everyday in combat. [ She takes out a scroll and tosses it into the air. Immediately another scroll flashes out before turning into a metal staff. Tenten catches it casually and twirls it about a bit. ] This whole scroll has metal things that I polish and sharpen everyday! [ ...Yep. That's a lot of metal polish. ]

[ watching and obligingly clapping, she's easily impressed. no but this is pretty impressive too 8|b ]

Is that your ninja technique? Summoning things from scrolls?... And I should hope you don't need to enter combat here everyday.

Yep! Summoning from scrolls and then using weapons to aid me in combat. I've mastered every weapon I've put my hands on so far - except for guns! [ You can hear the proudness just ooze off her voice. ] I enter combat every now and again, mostly when there's a draft. It's kinda quiet here though, but it never hurts to prepare!

That's true, guns don't sound like a very ninja-like tool. But... the draft? I think I've only heard of the one. I didn't know there were more.

There are but they're sporadic. They usually are spaced out with a couple of months in between, but there are more than one. If I recall correctly, before I was here, there was once a time when the Third Party invaded this place!

Wha--that's terrible! An invasion of the village? How rude!

Yeah. I wasn't here for it, but, apparently, it was quite a dangerous time.

The Third Party are these guys with wings, kinda like us, except they're black and they can fly with them. [ Kinda. ] I'm not really sure what they hold against us, but I remember hearing something about how we aren't natives and need to be exterminated or something. So, like the Malnosso, they aren't good.

That does sound like a cause for concern. I hope you'll be careful if you ever encounter them... but it's quite brave of you to volunteer, anyway.

Well, of course I have to be brave! I wouldn't be a strong kunoichi if I just ran away from everything, and it's my dream to become a kunoichi renowned for their strength!
